Tout no Gout
It would be nice to think that Gout can be cured by just making a few modifications to ones' diet. Um,... I would like to think that is possible, but likely not probable. However, if there was such a thing as a perfect diet, and everyone embraced it, there would be little or no disease. There is no denying; we are what we eat. Consider for a moment the volume of food we eat daily against what passes daily from the other end. There is very little difference it terms of volume or weight. What our bodies take is pretty minuscule by comparison. So let me summarize, quality, not quantity is what is essential.
Let me summarize further here on all the areas the average American diet is deficient. Too little fiber. Many studies confirm we are deficient in our minimum daily fiber requirements. Too much refined food, with accompanying preservatives, coloring, and additives. Yeast products. There is a school of thought out there that says man was never intended to eat products with yeast. There are biblical references to unleaven breads (minus yeast). Wrong types of cooking oil or consumed fats. Rancid oils or vegetable oils used for frying are bad and break down to form toxic compounds. Sugar and high fructose sugar, as well as refined carbohydrates are bad for our bodies. Some of the usual suspects are: alcohol, prescription drugs, pasteurized dairy products, growth hormones and trace antibiotics in our meat products, canned and frozen products where vitamin content and enzymes are destroyed. The list goes on.
Suffering with Gout or some other illness? Embrace the natural approach to your health. Embark on a macro food diet. That is whole foods, fresh vegetables and fruit, and less cooked meals. Raw food as much as possible. Consider the virtues of fasting several times a year. Exercise reaps distinct health benefits. Eat more nuts and dried fruit at snack times. Drink green tea and herbal teas at mealtimes for better absorption of your essential nutrients. Consume a good quality yogurt. Never eat beyond two-thirds full. We Americans have come to accept that a full feeling is the desired outcome when consuming a meal. By the time we reach that full feeling, our digestive system is already overtaxed. Linger a little more over mealtimes. Smaller bites, spend a little more time chewing. Give thanks for the bounty we are provided. Check back with us for continuing health tips.
